Advisory: Extreme Heat Thursday

This advisory provides information on a threat for extreme heat on Thursday, July 21.

Summary: Temperatures will rise well into the 90s with real feels near 105, making it hazardous to be outdoors for prolonged periods of time.

Details: Temperatures will peak near 95 degrees Thursday afternoon, with a real feel of 105. This makes it potentially dangerous if extended outdoor activity occurs without sufficient hydration and breaks.

Action: Ensure campers are taking frequent breaks for hydration and cooling off. Strenuous and prolonged outdoor activity should be kept to a minimum. Consider having extra water bottles on hand for campers that need it. It is also good to make sure counselors are aware of the signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion and know what to do should a camper feel dehydrated or overheated.
